Notes:
Lake George Town was formed in Washington County as the Town of Caldwell in 1810 from the towns of Athol (now Thurman), Bolton, and Queensbury. In 1813, it was transferred to the new county of Warren. The name was changed from Caldwell to Lake George in 1862. Similarly, the village of Caldwell became named Lake George in 1903. The village was the county seat 1813-1963. At present, the courthouses are in Queensbury and the mailing address is Lake George.
